Musical theatre is a form of theatrical performance that combines songs with acting and dance. The story and emotional content of a musical – humor, love, anger – are communicated through music and movement.

Dance classes for children that include musical theatre provides them with solid technical training, performance training, and a fun, supportive environment to create, achieve and grow as a dancer and human being.

The RSD Musical Theatre performance program

• builds performance confidence
• develops understanding of dramatic role-playing
• teaches character immersion similar to acting classes (learning to become/play characters with conviction)
• strengths social bonds as many routines require a partner and working together to tell the story
• educates students of the history and evolution of musical theatre styles by exposing them to the core classic and contemporary genres within musical theatre
• prepares students who wish to pursue careers in the Performing Arts industry

The focus of our classes is on achieving conviction of character and confident role playing through acting and dance. Singing is encouraged but not compulsory.
