Our classes run every week, year round from mid January to early December. Throughout the school holidays classes are as normal. If you’re unsure, we offer a 3 week trial period for only $45 so your child can get a feel for the classes before committing. Contact us today by calling 021 756 858 or email hello@rsd.co.nz, and we’ll help you find the perfect class to get started!

Where should I buy dance shoes for my child?

We recommend purchasing your child’s dance shoes directly from us to ensure the best fit and quality. Properly fitted shoes are essential for your child’s comfort, safety, and performance in class.

Big-box department stores or online discount sites may offer shoes that look similar and cost less, but these often lack the proper support, fit, and durability required for dance. In fact, poorly made shoes can hinder your child’s progress and even increase the risk of discomfort or injury. If proper dance shoes aren’t available, it’s often better for your child to dance in bare feet until the right shoes can be purchased.

By purchasing through us, you’ll get expert guidance to find the right style and size, tailored to our specific class requirements.

Visit us at the studio or contact us to find out more about the shoe options we offer!

Why do you offer a 3-week paid trial?

We offer a 3-week paid trial because it gives your child the chance to truly experience the joy of dance and the unique environment we create at The Renaissance School of Dance. One trial class often isn’t enough for children to fully settle in, get comfortable with their teacher and classmates, and start to feel the benefits of dancing.

By participating for three weeks, your child can gain a better sense of what it’s like to be part of our dance family, while you can see how they enjoy the classes and how we support their confidence, growth, and social skills. The 3-week trial is also a great way to ensure the class is the perfect fit for your child before committing for the remainder of the year.

This approach reflects our commitment to making sure both you and your child feel confident about joining our dance community. 😊 Book your trial here: www.rsd.co.nz/trial

Why do you run classes year-round?

We run our classes year-round because consistent learning and practice are essential for building confidence, resilience, and progress in dance. Dancing regularly throughout the year helps children develop their skills, maintain momentum, and stay engaged in a positive routine.

Beyond skill-building, year-round classes create a sense of belonging and connection within our dance family. It gives children the opportunity to form lasting friendships, continue growing socially, and enjoy being part of a supportive and nurturing environment without long breaks disrupting their progress.

We also understand that life gets busy, so we’ve made our programs as flexible and accessible as possible to ensure families can balance extracurricular activities with other commitments. Year-round classes reflect our commitment to helping your child thrive both on and off the dance floor!

What is the Renaissance School of Dance's policy on refunds and cancellations?

At The Renaissance School of Dance, we have a clear policy to ensure transparency for all our families.

We do not offer refunds or credits for withdrawals once the month has started and the fees have been paid, so we encourage families to carefully consider their commitment before enrolling. Fees for trial classes are also non-refundable, as these are designed to allow your child to experience the class before committing to the term.

Refunds or credits are not provided for missed classes, but we do our best to offer make-up classes where possible so your child can stay on track and enjoy their dance journey.

If RSD must cancel a class due to unforeseen circumstances, we will provide a make-up class wherever feasible. For any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact us—we’re always happy to assist.

Can my child join dance classes if English isn’t their first language or if they’re not confident speaking yet?

Of course! Dance is such a universal language—it’s all about movement, music, and expression, so there’s no need to worry about their English skills or how much they can talk.

We make sure all our classes are inclusive and welcoming, and our teachers use lots of visual demonstrations and clear guidance to help every child feel comfortable and included. Your child doesn’t need to say a word to join in, have fun, and start building their confidence.

Plus, being part of a group can really help kids naturally improve their communication skills over time. We’ll make sure they feel supported every step of the way—our main focus is on their happiness and enjoyment!
